Voices of Grey is an exhibition that was designed for the Grey Roots Museum & Archives in Owen Sound, Ontario. It features the voices of select individuals – some famous, others not – whose stories will serve as entry points to some of the broad topics addressed in the surrounding gallery.
The exhibition is made up of a stylized house frame lit with LED light strips. Attached to the primary frame are various walls, tables, and windows that serve as interactive activities or opportunities for graphics and video. The various exhibits use voice audio to share cultural stories based in Grey County, Ontario. Examples of the exhibits include a floor projection as well a space dedicated to various hanging artifacts. An interactive telephone window lets users call in to listen to historical stories. The Artifact of the Month Wall displays an artifact while also giving users the opportunity to share their thoughts on the wall. The Listening Wall is comprised of various images and speakers to create a sensory experience using various pieces of audio.
This project was researched, designed and fabricated by Blue Rhino Design in partnership with Performance Solutions. My role was as a contract Industrial Designer through Performance Solutions. This exhibition is currently in the installation process.
